Molasses is a viscous product resulting from refining sugarcane or sugar beets into sugar. Molasses varies by amount of sugar, method of extraction, and age of plant. Sugarcane molasses is primarily used for sweetening and as a flavoring agent in the food and beverages industries. Industrial fermentation is accounted for a major share in the global blackstrap molasses market during the forecast period. Industrial fermentation is the intentional use of fermentation by microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi to make products useful to humans.
