The solid electrolyte market was valued at $17.8 million in 2020, and is projected to reach $56.6 million by 2030, at a CAGR of 12.1% from 2021 to 2030.

Electrolytes are chemicals that, when dissolved in a polar solvent, disintegrate into ions capable of conducting electricity. They are mostly utilized in batteries and cells to act as a catalyst, encouraging the passage of ions between electrodes to make the battery more electricity conductive. The battery cell voltage and energy density are increased by using solid electrolytes, which are super ionic conductors. Solid electrolytes show relatively high ion conductivity due to their rapid diffusion. They are non-flammable and fast load with longer lifecycle and can be used for relatively high energy applications. Inorganic solid electrolytes show high thermal and electrochemical stability and are widely used in lithium ion batteries commonly used in electric vehicles and remote accessories. The solid electrolyte allows high energy storage and avoids short circuits, which lead to a longer life as well as a high efficiency of batteries. A challenge, however, in the commercial part with solid electrolytes resides at its cost, as they are more expensive than liquid electrolytes. Solid electrolytes are primarily used in the electrical and electronics industry. Moreover, they also find abundant use in various end-use industries such as telecom, heavy machinery & goods, and others.

The properties associated with electrolyte solids are leading to their greater adoption in batteries, in turn, creating a significant request for the industry. It is expected that the macroeconomic growth of the electronic industry and huge investment in automotive, intelligent, and advanced electronic devices are planned to support the growth of the solid electrolyte market during the forecast period.
