Plasma welding, also known as plasma arc welding (PAW), is a more advanced variant of gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). Plasma refers to the heated ionized gases used in this form of welding. An electric arc is formed between the work piece and the electrode during the plasma welding process. Unlike gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), the electrode is positioned inside the body of a torch in this method, and the plasma arc may be separated from the shielding gas envelope in the plasma arc welding process.
