Linear alpha olefin are alkenes consisting of a terminal double bond between the first carbon atom and second carbon atom. Linear alpha olefins are obtained by ethylene oligomerization. Such oligomerizations are used in the processing of higher olefins, that are used for the production of oil additives, surfactants, plasticizer lubricants and for the synthesis of linear low density polyethylene.
