EPP is thetype of highly versatile, closed cell-bead foam which has a unique range of properties like multiple impact resistance, buoyancy, water resistance, energy absorption, multiple impact resistance, 100% recyclability and exceptional strength to weight ratio. Its main use lies in industrial packaging due its properties like flexibility in providing protection to complex shapes and cushioning ability. Based on density, it is primarily of two types- high and low density EPP grade. High density EPP grade displays property like reduced weight property, excellent strength etc. and hence used when energy management is a critical factor. Low energy EPP grades are mainly used for industrial packaging.

End-user/Technology

It is mainly used to manufacture door, floor, hood panels of automobiles. Also, it is increasingly used for protective and flexible packaging of delicate items like electronics, household appliances, food and beverages, and industrial equipment.

Market Dynamics

--> Growing demand for fuel efficient and light weight cars is a major driver for EPP foam market growth

--> Due to increasing concerns about environment and recyclable and light weight properties of EPP make it useful in aerospace, automotive and packaging industries

--> Due to its absorption and light weight properties, EPP is also increasingly used in crash prone parts of automobile

--> Application in heavy industrial packaging is expected to drive the growth of market for EPP
