Emulsion is a suspension of tiny droplets of one liquid in a second liquid. In emulsion coatings, the tiny droplets are that of liquid polymer binder spread out in water. After an emulsion coating is applied, the water evaporates and the polymer particles pack closely and fuse together to form a continuous film. Their composition is as follows - copolymer binder, white pigment, colour pigment, extenders, water, and additive. Real estate, building and construction business is the mega industry that intensively uses emulsion coatings.

Market Dynamics

The growth in demand of emulsion coatings is directly linked to the growth of construction industry and printing. To some extent, their growth is also triggered by growth in other industries like FMCG, healthcare, consumer durables etc since such growth ultimately drives growth in infrastructure. Since emulsion coatings are water based, they are known to produce fewer volatile organic compounds. Thus their growth augurs well with champions of ecology as well.

Market Segmentation

The market segmentation for mobile accessories can be done by application, distribution channel and geography. Application includes printing, industrial painting, domestic painting etc. The distribution can be done through exclusive stores, mass retailers and independent dealers.

Key Players

Global emulsion paints manufacturers like BASF, AkzoNobel, Berger Paints, DuPont etc.
