The Elastomeric Coatingsare highly flexible and durable adhesive compounds that are found suitable to coat the walls, roofs and floors. Due to its elongated protective attributes, it is used to protect the interiors from extreme atmospheric and climatic variations while providing aesthetic value to the interiors made up of metal, masonry or concrete. The compound is reliable, protective from any degradation, durable and had been preferred over the traditional paints due to its protective barrier properties.

End-User

Due to requirement of features of high reliability and superior aesthetic value of the final product, the elastomeric coatings have been used in construction, textile and automotive industries at large. In construction industry, the coatings are mainly used flooring, roofing, cladding and water proofing purpose. These coatings can cover thin hairline cracks on the surface that is not possible with the conventional paints. Thus, these elastomeric coatings have been proved to be of extensive use in new or improvement construction works. Features like glossy and scratch resistant surface supports the use of this material in commercial purposes.

Market Dynamics

As the market for constructions and industrial development is expanding, it is leading the way for an expansion in the market for elastomeric coatings along with it. More specific in Asia Pacific region, where economic growth had opened the gates for more construction and development projects, this expansion is of more essence. Need for residential conditions to get better and improving economic conditions have assisted this growth pattern in countries like India and China.

Market Segmentation

The market for elastomeric coatings can be segmented on various aspects. Based on type, the market can be for acrylics, silicone, polysulfide, polyurethane, butyl, vinyl polymers, etc. On its application, the market can be for wall, floor or roof coatings. The roof coatings market can be further segmented as built up, metal, foam, ply and concrete coatings. Technologically, the market can be segmented as solvent-borne and water-borne. Lastly, depending on the industry of its utilization, the market can be industrial, residential or commercialized.

Geographic Analysis

The market for elastomeric coatings is already established to a higher extent in the developed regions like America. Availability of cheaper and traditional alternatives have stunted the market growth to large extent in the less developed areas.
