(Styrene butadiene rubber), principally used in the manufacture of automobile tyres. SBRs are also utilised in the manufacture of adhesives, coatings, sealants and miscellaneous rubber articles such as shoe soles. Butadiene can also be polymerised for the manufacture of Polybutadiene Rubber (BR) which is used for tyre production and can also act as an impact modifier of polymers such as high impact polystyrene (HIPS).
Butadiene is also one of the components used in the manufacture of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), which is the largest-volume engineering thermoplastic resin. ABS has its majority usage in in the electronics industry in manufacturing of component parts of business machines, computers, radios, televisions and telephone handsets. Copolymerisation of acrylonitrile with butadiene leads to Nitrile rubbersthat are largely utilised in the manufacture of hoses, gasket seals and fuel lines for the automobile industry as well as in gloves and footwear.
Market Dynamics:
An increase in the demand in the production of consumer products is expected to raise the demand of butadiene markets demand in resin. A growing demand for Synthetic rubber, which is the chief application of butadiene and its derivatives, are used in manufacture of tires, footwear, gloves, wetsuits, soles, gaskets, chewing gum, conveyor belts, industrial hoses, and various moulded and extruded rubber goods, will be acting as a growth driver for the market. There has also been a surge in the demand for automotive tyres due to the growing increase in the automobiles across globe which has led to a steady growth in global butadiene market
There have also been factors like fluctuating cost of natural rubber, enhance properties of synthetic rubber and geographic restraints of rubber plantation that have compelled the consumers to shift from natural rubber to synthetic rubber thereby enhancing the global usage of butadiene. Additionally, a growth in the cost benefits and high profit margins for the tire and rubber products will also propel the growth of the market. However, the product maturity for butadiene coupled with the volatile prices for raw materials have been projected to be the key challenges for butadiene market participants. There have also been health concerns raised due to continuous exposure to butadiene that's expected to pose safety and regulatory challenges for the market. These health concerns have led the regulatory authorities to establish strict guidelines for maintenance ofsafety standards in industries andto overcome the same, industry has started considering a shift in focus towards developing bio-based alternatives

Geographical Analysis
APAC is expected to have a dominance in the global market of Butadienewith China being one of the major consumers of chemicals. Also, other developing countries such as India and China have contributed to a high growth of global market due to the favourable investment policies of government in order to promote industrial growth, increase in population and developing economies. The US has also contributed to a large market share due to the high growth opportunities in this region. Many manufacturing industries are integrated with the butadiene facilities at China which in turn is expected to foster the growth. Changing preferences in feedstock for manufacturing ethylene also drives the global butadiene market in this region. Also, low operating rates of ethylene crackers as compared to butadiene especially in the U.S may enhance the global market growth in the coming future.
