Concrete Canvas (CC) is a cement impregnated fabric that hardens when hydrated to form a flexible, durable, thin, water & fire proof concrete layer. CC allows concrete construction without the need for plant or mixing equipment. Concrete Canvas is available in three thicknesses which are CC5 which is 5mm thick, CC8 which is 8mm thick and CC13 which is 13mm thick.
Market Dynamics
The key drivers for the concrete canvas market include it's easy to use nature, rapid installation and low cost. Concrete Canvas can be laid at a rate of 200sqm/hour by a 3-man team which is 10 times faster than conventional concrete solutions. Concrete Canvas is available in man portable rolls eliminating the need for plant on site and allowing concrete installation in areas with limited access. Concrete Canvas is more cost-effective than conventional concrete and it comes with less logistical burden. Concrete Canvas is a low mass, low carbon technology which uses up to 95% less material than conventional concrete for many applications.
Market Segmentation
The market is segmented into Slope Protection, Vent Walls, Remediation, Ditch Lining, Bund Lining, Outfall and Gabions on the basis of application. On the basis of end-user industries it is segmented into Road infrastructure, Railway, Petrochemical, Mining, Agro, Municipal, Defence and Design. Concrete Canvas is rapidly establishing itself as the construction material of choice in the rail sector. Existing users of CC in the Rail sector include UK Network Rail, Canada National Rail, ADIF, Spain. Concrete Canvas is also employed in large-scale mining projects around the world especially in South Africa, Chile, Australia, Canada and the UK.
Geographic Analysis
The global concrete canvas market is distributed over North America, South America, Europe, Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Middle-East & Africa (MEA). The Asia-Pacific region accounted for more than 50% of the global share in 2015 and was the largest regional concrete and cement market. The main reason for this is due to the urbanization and infrastructure redevelopment in growing economies including China, India, Japan and Indonesia. Ever since the Indonesian government launched their master plan for the acceleration and expansion of Indonesia's economic development the concrete and cement market has seen rapid acceleration making Indonesia the fastest-growing nation in the concrete and cement market.
Key Players
Some of the manufacturers of the concrete canvas are Concrete Canvas Ltd(UK), Milliken & Co., Bekaert SA, Euclid Chemical, Nycon, Sika Corporation.
