Eberspaecher And Sharda Motor Signs a Joint Venture for Environment-Friendly Mobility

Eberspaecher, the global technology leader in emission control technologies for commercial vehicles, and Sharda Motor, the leading exhaust aftertreatment system manufacturer in India, signs a contract for a 50-50 partnership. The partnership aims to comply the new emission standard Bharat Stage VI.

The new joint venture is currently focused on establishing production plants in Northern India and Pune for the initial production. The plants will develop and sell exhaust aftertreatment systems for commercial automobile producers in India. These systems will be used in buses and trucks by 2020.

Dr. Thomas Waldhier, the Chief Operating Officer at Eberspaecher Exhaust, stated that the consumers will surely profit from this new joint venture. They will obtain access to not only the local market expertise but also our production knowledge and global technology—for significantly reduced emissions from the heavy and distribution traffic in India.

Mr. Ajay Relan, the Managing Director at Sharda Motor added that this partnership is a significant step for our company in adopting advanced technologies for clean transport. With our prevailing customers and suppliers, we aim to bring local expertise into the joint venture business. Both companies consider this partnership as the future of environment-friendly mobility.

For Eberspaecher, this partnership is another significant milestone of the consistent execution of its growth strategy. Eberspaecher aims to be a leading player in the Asian commercial vehicle exhaust technology markets. Additionally, the company plans to manufacture emission reduction systems for commercial automobiles, which will meet the China 6 standard, by mid-2020 onwards.

The emission control technology has observed substantial growth over the years, due to the government’s rules regarding emission standards. Nowadays, many technologies such as selective catalytic reduction (SCR), exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), diesel particulate filters (DPF), gasoline particulate filter (GPF), diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), and others are used to control the harmful emissions and meet the emission standards. Growing awareness and adoption of emission control technologies are sure to boost the growth of the global emission control technology market.

The counseling team at Naik Naik & Co., a full-service national law firm that provides strategic, innovative and comprehensive legal solutions to clients, will guide Eberspaecher on the new joint venture and technology collaboration.
