Three major accidents were witnessed in the Malaysian aviation industry in 2014. Malaysian flight MH370 disappeared in March 2014 and flight MH17 was shot down on July 17, 2014 in eastern Ukraine claiming the lives of all 298 passengers on board. Indonesia AirAsia Flight 8501 crashed in the Java Sea on December 28, 2014, killing 155 passengers on board.
