In order to ensure that end users operating client devices have real-time access and connectivity to corporate information, enterprises are making substantial investments to enhance their network and communications infrastructure.

According to Kables survey, a noticeable portion of the enterprise software budget is being allocated to software as a service (SaaS), as enterprises in Italy have started to value the potential of reducing the total cost of ownership of their software.

Kables survey indicates that Italian enterprises software investments are primarily focussed on application lifecycle management, with average allocation of 19% of the total software budget in 2012.

The increase in cyber crime and the need to adhere to various national and international legislation and compliance regulations are making ICT security a priority, not only for large Italian enterprises but also for SMEs. This is quite evident from the survey as enterprises in Italy are allocating 16% of their IT services budgets to security & privacy services.

Italian companies are still dependent on fixed voice for enterprise communications, which is evident from the survey as enterprises are allocating 28% of their telecommunications budgets here.
